i half expected the rev to say " how dare you use the bible to further your agenda of the destructive use of dancing mr McCormick this further illustrates my point teenagers use the way and will of the lord for their destructive means" who else did
Too pretty. Looks like he went to an expensive boarding school. Kevin Bacon was better 😂
John Lithgow was better as Reverend Moore. He just holds a heavier weight and repressed emotion than Dennis Quaid is capable of.
its been a while since i seen this movie

I would love being in a Christian country and follow their rule. I watched this movie, and i didn't even understand why Ariel and wes warnicker were so depressed in their society. See our Christian life in the Middle East country of Asia, we are dying to get this freedom of going church and celebrating Christmas.I wish i was closer to god.😭😩!! Amen !! Amen!!
He's no Kevin Bacon.
Change is different, he's not Kevin Bacon but he's a damn good actor. 🤡
3:57 There's a certain wisdom that u don't have to believe everything the bible says. There just stories to guide people in the right direction and u can't turn them in higher Archy or power
They say that the bible is JUST stories that are used to guide people in the right direction where U don't have to believe them. So when you think about how church were running the laws around this town, they forgot one about King David
I'm a little confused. Making laws that prohibited one's freedom to dance and listen to music, isn't that a violation of the freedom giving by the Constitution? Does a county really have the power to introduce such a law?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🕊️🌈🕊️🌈🕊️🌈🕊️🌈🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🕊️🌈🕊️🌈🕊️🌈🕊️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✝️🌍🏰👏🎉👑👑🕊️🦁🌼🎺🎷🎸🎸🎹✝️🎛️🎚️🛶🏰👏👑👑🌈🧝♀️🎸✝️🎚️🌍👏🎉🕺👑💃😙
How many federal law and constitutional law did this town violate?
It is called chaperoning, Reverend and parents! Let them dance!
This is one of my favourite scenes in the movie, the enemy has turned a lot dancing into drugs especiallyThe underground scene which are used to be part of, I am a born again Christian now but it doesn’t matter if you are or not, dancing is an amazing beautiful thing whether you are a believer all know the Lord tells us to Dance. Jeremiah 31:13 Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.🙏
Lolol the misuse of Bible verses in this scene is so fucking lazy 😂 I cannot even.
I like the Amish version of this movie where the elders just said take a year off and see if you like it better anywhere else.

We’re not wrong break the rules cross the state line together fun let’s dance 💫✨
There was a time when they thought ballet was evil. Isn't that silly?
And David danced for the lord with all his might!
Pode dublado footloose ritmo louco 2011 vcs tem fã Sônia Elizabeth Ferreira Brasileira e São muitas
So “spiritual corruption” is worse than drugs and alcohol? Priorities.
What does it profit a man to gain the world but forfeit his soul
Lol this shit is so cringe and I love it
I had a dream against Bonnie henry about no dancing and I won
Ren's accent is adorable
"In my own way" undervalued line by far
Someone needs to bring this issue to taliban of they have no right ban sport and ban women participation, there isn't a law in there holy book states sports to be banned
David danced 🕺🏻 ruclips.net/video/g7cnJOiY2LI/видео.html
The hollywood's manipulation of the scripture. Dancing for the God and dancing for the satan are 2 different opposite things.
Back in the 80's, the premise was so outrageous and dumb that it made for a fun movie. In 2021, people are so insane that I'm surprised it isn't law in all conservative states.
Are you freakin kiddin me?! I'm from the heart of Kansas and we're as red as it comes and there are two incredibly popular country dance clubs. Because by conservative I assume you mean small country towns or more country states. Dude we here in the country love to dance.
You have the right to believe whatever you want, but you don't have the right to force your beliefs on others. The preacher can ban whatever he wants in his home, on his property and in his Church, but he has nothing to say about everywhere else in that town. Some of my neighbors play loud music often, some do it too loud, and I've gotten into arguments with some about it, but I don't think it should outlawed. You can have fun as long as you don't disturb other people.
Just make sure you keep the same energy with Muslims
The bible thumpers hate free speech and the constitution. Dancing is joy and passion and is not illegal.
IMO, this revised scene doesn't match up to the original.. the original being SO much more powerful. Cutting out the past part where Bacon said "That's the way it was in the beginning... that's the way it's always been.... that's the way it should be now" in one of the best mic drops in cinematic history should never have been dropped.
If I lived in that town Me: “ I just wanna learn how to dance ballet ! And learn how to dance musical theater style ! Besides dance is a good thing it helps brain activity and it keeps people in shape . If I’m gonna stay in shape at least let me trick my brain!“
I love this move
I don't know how dancing or any particular form of artistic and emotional expression is against God. God gave humanity the ability and creativity to express ourselves through music and enjoyment of such. That the preacher didn't believe that God was against dancing, he was just abusing scripture to get what he want because he was too ignorant to understand.
As a man studying to be a Priest, I'm sad to say that many of my Protestant brethren and even some of my Catholic brethren behave similarly in regards to using scripture to get what they want. I hope in my Priesthood, God willing, I can be a part of the change regarding the public perception of some groups of Christianity.
I wouldn't say it was so much a desire to control the masses as it was a desire for the Reverend to deal with his pain. Recall that Reverend Moore had a son named Bobby who died in the film's opening sequence. As his wife indicates later on, both the Reverend and his daughter Ariel deal with their emotions in extreme ways. Moreover, Ariel points out that Bobby spent his whole life trying to do right by his family in every way until the accident that cost Bobby his life. From then on, Reverend Moore would blame Bobby's behavior that night for the pain he had to endure just like he wanted to blame Ren wrongly for Ariel getting physically assaulted. Based on these premises, he obviously didn't know how to cope with the loss of his son properly and thus he pushed through to have these draconian measures passed so quickly that he didn't give himself or the town enough time to process the grief. These laws that he pressured the town council into adopting were just a means for him to take his anguish out on the town and shut out the rest of the world. I would think that anybody who's been so afflicted with heartbreak and pain would not be able to think things through carefully. It's human nature for anybody to rationalize and try to draw conclusions wrongly when you're going through a stressful situation like he did. I would also argue that if not for the accident that cost the lives of Bobby and his friends, the ban might never have happened. This isn't an excuse for the Reverend's actions in banning dancing or what not. It's an explanation for why he thinks, speaks, and acts the way he does.
The new speech is so much fucking worse
i love how that actress who plays the mom always plays a good woman
Let me get this straight... injustice, religion, freedom of speech, race allegory. IN A MOVIE ABOUT DANCING......... WHAT!!!!!!!!
I cant believe they actually got away with an allegory about some kind of injustice in a movie about dancing and only dancing....
If they just replaced every time he said dancing with covid😂
It's funny cause the Bible doesn't say dancing is illegal or corrupting in fact when the Israelites came out of Egypt and through the Red Sea because of God's grace and help they danced and sang and worshipped! I love that they brought the Bible and Scripture into this movie!! More movies need Christian values put into it! Dancing ist corrupting now what happens when underage kids drink and are inappropriate that's bad.
Who’s still watching 2020
Ren MacCormack’s got a point about dancing and loud music it’s not really that bad Oh and BTW it’s not that big of a deal
Does anyone else notice Brandon Butler from 13rw in the crowd at 4:47 all the way to the left third row up😳😳😳
There are actually several things I like better in this version and one of them is how the uncle sticks up for Ren in this scene and in another scene with the preacher where he says Ariel isn’t good enough for Ren.
The remake overall was way more upbeat overall. I do agree with you though, I like the family side better in the remake.
Feel good kind of movie
watching this bland remake, makes the original film look like a piece of cinematic art....
Fcblover What makes it bland?
@abc.animal514 Well for a start; the cast, the acting and mediocre directing... therefore the drama is missing and it's just another teen flick for the people without any soul.
@@Fcblover What a hater lol.
